After her training as a physiotherapist, she moved to South Africa in 1949. »...Ten years in South Africa and then ten years in India.« So the Basler Newspaper presented Anne Vorwerck at the time she was honored with the Basler Literatur-Werkjahr for her huge novel »Eigentlich wollte Kunigunde das Abendland retten« (engl. »Actually Kunigunde wanted to save the occident«).
